Enjoy the flavors of summer all year with this easy and delicious BBQ chicken recipe that brings a backyard cookout to your kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs or breasts (skinless, boneless)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and place it in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  2. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure a crispy outer layer while keeping the inside juicy.
  3. Sear the chicken: In an oven-safe skillet, heat a bit more olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Add BBQ sauce: Once the chicken is browned, pour the BBQ sauce directly over the chicken. Make sure each piece is well-coated.
  5. Bake the chicken: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  6. Rest and serve: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving, allowing the juices to redistribute for maximum flavor.

Notes

For juicier results, thighs are recommended, while breasts are leaner. Experiment with different BBQ flavors for variety.
