A comforting and delicious dish featuring tender chicken simmered in a rich gravy, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 large boneless chicken breasts (approximately 1.5 pounds)
  • 2 packets chicken gravy mix
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Pepper and garlic powder to taste
  • Mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken with black pepper and garlic powder.
  2. Mix the water, cream of chicken soup, and chicken gravy mix in the crockpot until smooth.
  3. Combine the seasoned chicken breasts with the gravy mixture in the crockpot.
  4. Cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours, until the chicken shreds easily with a fork.
  5. Shred the chicken into small pieces using two forks directly in the crockpot.
  6. Add the sour cream and warm for an additional 15 minutes, mixing well.
  7. Serve the chicken and gravy over your choice of mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.

Notes

For richer flavor, consider using low-sodium chicken broth instead of water. You can substitute the cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom or another variety.
