A rich and buttery caramel sauce perfect for drizzling over desserts or adding a sweet touch to various dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Heat the sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it begins to melt and turn golden brown, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  2. Add the butter to the melted sugar, stirring until fully melted and combined, about 1 minute.
  3. Incorporate the heavy cream, stirring until the sauce is smooth and creamy as it bubbles vigorously.
  4. Add the salt and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Store the sauce in a heatproof jar after it cools to room temperature, keeping it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Notes

Stir constantly to prevent burning, and use room temperature cream for best results.
