A fun and vibrant dessert that glows under black light, combining the sweetness of candy with the tartness of apples, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup Jolly Rancher hard candies (assorted colors, crushed)
  • A few drops neon food coloring (green, blue, or pink)
  • 1 cup tonic water
  • 8 pieces Granny Smith apples (or Fuji or Gala apples)
  • 8 pieces wooden sticks

Instructions

  1. Wash the apples thoroughly and dry them completely. Insert wooden sticks into the stem end of each apple until secure.
  2. In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir gently over medium heat until the sugar fully dissolves. Avoid stirring once the mixture starts to bubble.
  3. Once the mixture reaches a rolling boil, carefully add the crushed Jolly Ranchers and stir until they melt completely. Slowly mix in the neon food coloring and tonic water for that glow effect.
  4. Use a candy thermometer to check the temperature. You want it to reach the hard crack stage, around 300°F (150°C).
  5. Once the syrup is ready, quickly dip each apple in the candy mixture, rotating it to coat completely. Lift and allow excess syrup to drip off. Place the coated apples on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool.
  6. Allow the apples to cool completely at room temperature until the candy coating hardens.

Notes

Ensure the apples are completely dry before dipping, monitor the temperature closely, and work quickly as the candy coating hardens fast.
