A delightful fall-inspired sangria blending tart blackberries and crisp apples with red wine, perfect for Halloween gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of red wine (Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
  • 1 cup of fresh blackberries
  • 1 to 2 apples, thinly sliced (honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 1/4 cup of orange liqueur (like Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • 3 cups of ginger ale or sparkling water
  • 1/4 cup of fresh orange juice
  • Optional spices: Cinnamon sticks or star anise
  • Ice for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base: In a large pitcher, combine the bottle of red wine and orange liqueur. Stir well to combine.
  2. Add the Fruit: Gently add the blackberries and sliced apples to the wine mixture. If you’re using optional spices, mix them in now.
  3. Mix in Citrus: Pour in the fresh orange juice and stir gently to avoid crushing the fruit.
  4. Chill: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 120 minutes, or up to 480 minutes.
  5. Add Fizz: Just before serving, mix in the ginger ale or sparkling water for bubbly freshness.
  6. Serve: Fill glasses with ice and pour the sangria over, ensuring each glass gets fruit. Garnish with extra fruit if desired.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for best flavor; chill time is crucial for flavor improvement.
