Bacon Mac & Cheese combines creamy cheese sauce with hearty pasta shells and crispy bacon for a comforting meal that’s perfect for the whole family.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Pasta Shells
  • 6 slices Hickory Smoked Bacon
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta Shells: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta shells and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the hickory smoked bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel to absorb excess grease. Chop into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Onions: In the same skillet with the bacon grease, add the chopped onions. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes or until they are deeply caramelized, stirring often to prevent burning.
  4. Make the Sauce: Add the butter to the skillet with the onions, allowing it to melt. Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently.
  5. Add the Cheeses: Mix in the cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheeses. Stir continuously until the cheeses have melted and the sauce is smooth.
  6. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta shells and crispy bacon to the cheese sauce, stirring well to coat all the shells evenly.
  7. Season: Taste the dish and add salt and pepper as needed.
  8. Serve: Enjoy the dish warm, garnished with additional cheese or herbs if desired.

Notes

Cook pasta al dente to prevent mushiness. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
